In the past twenty years Belgrade has travelled a road less ordinary for a European capital: from a third world metropolis and the capital city of a developed socialism state - to the single European city airbombed after the World War II.
During the nineties, Belgrade was the hub of a wild transition, the headquarters of private armies, of war-profiteering capitalism, of illegal constructions and spontaneous market implosion. In other words, a city disconnected from the rest of the world but at the same time a prominent symbol of globalization.
Today, after all the hustle and bustle, Belgrade is ready to become centre of the southeast Europe and the regional meeting place of development and culture, education, business and entertainment industry. Belgrade Design Week is the first step to revealing the new face of Belgrade, in tune with the third millennium.
Let’s build it together!
