Maxim Velcovsky

Working in simple white porcelain, Maxim Velcovsky creates modern, functional and quirky ceramics with a humorous twist.

Velcovsky soon established himself as one of the most original, and sought-after designers on the Prague art scene and is recognized as one of the leading figures in the new wave of Czech design.

He has graduated from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design at Prague University, and Glasgow School of Art.

Since 1997, he took part in over 50 group and individual exhibitions in Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Switzerland and Sweden.

He has worked as an author and in collaboration with other artists on: Addict magazine, Design for the Messiah, Table tennis, Pingo, Top Models, for Hype magazine in collaboration with artists: Ondrej Host, Radeq Brousil, Marek Novotny, Projects for (Power, Parfitti, Messiah), Pan Tau for Gandy Gallery.

He is the member of the Union of Journalists and an Editor of the Bloc magazine (2002 – 2005)
His works are exhibited in: Museum of Design (MUDAC) Lausanne (Switzerland), Museum of Applied Arts, Prague (Czech Republic), Moravian Gallery Brno (Czech Republic),and in private collections in: Czech Republic, France, Finland, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, USA, Japan.
