Paolo Moroni / Sawaya & Moroni

Sawaya and Moroni emerged on the design scene in 1984. In a relatively short time, combining Sawaya's design talents and Moroni's business savvy, the company forged its reputation as a high-end producer of luxurious, limited edition furniture designs. Although the company is known more for its collaborations with world-famous architects and designers like Zaha Hadid, Jean Nouvel, Maximilliano Fuksas, Michael Graves and Jacob Macfarlane, some of the best designs were created by William Sawaya.

A World Without Words - slide show by Jasper Morrison / intro by Konstantin Grcic

Jasper Morrison is one of today's most influential industrial designers. He is renowned for his elegant, quietly humorous style. A World Without Words is a collection of images he compiled from his collection of second-hand books and postcards. From one of Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion houses and Gerald Summers' one-piece plywood chair to a fisherman's hut on Hastings Beach, each image illustrates the wit and elegance with which Morrison has revitalized rationalist design. Jasper Morrison is unable to attend the conference, but he asked Konstantin Grcic to give an introduction of the lecture on his behalf.

Defne Koz

Defne Koz has designed more than 150 products for companies like Foscarini, Sharp, Alessi, Pirelli, Slide, Cappellini, Guzzini, Vitra, Authentics, Nissan, Casio and Gaia&Gino.
Her idea of design is influenced by her training in Ettore Sottsass' studio, by the combination of her Turkish and Italian culture, and by her interest in creating a product which is new and different. Her interests span from humanizing new technologies like digital audio systems to rediscovering the tradition of hand made ceramics. Common to all her projects are her distinctive "design language" and the research on the sensorial qualities of her materials.
